11 months

Spencer is quickly becoming more of a little boy and less of a baby boy right before our eyes.  I'm not sure if it's the way he sits, or his new found insistence to get what he wants, or his voracious appetite and eating style (see first picture!).  But whatever it is, both Brian and I can't help but mourn that our little baby is becoming a boy while at the same time watching with excitement and anticipation at what he will do next.

This month Spencer...

-has learned how to sit and stand up in his crib.  This is significant because it means he can be a lot of more vocal about not wanting to nap and will stand at the edge of the crib and shake the front!  haha It has also posed a little problem because when he wakes up at night he will sit up, and seems to not know how to lay back down because he will cry and cry until we go in and lay him down then go back to sleep.  Very funny predicament.  This has only happened in the last couple days... so hopefully it's short lived.

-has the ability to pound the food.  His favorites are black beans, oranges, graham crackers/cookies, pasta (with pesto or parm), apples, and pumpkin waffles.  He easily eats an entire waffle and wants more.  Anytime we go to playgroup or over a friend's house to play he will find whatever child has food and go eat it.  And he doesn't just nibble, he grabs handfuls of whatever they have.

- likes ripping.  Either paper or food.  He prefers to get big pieces of food and rip it into bite sizes himself.

Spencer loves Brian's badge!

cute boys!

Spencer is into kitchen time.  He is pretty serious about his chores and darts to the dishwasher as soon as it is opened to help unload the silverware as quickly as possible.  Spencer loves to be involved with laundry and vaccuming etc, and Brian will always smile and tell him, "In a few short months son you will be able to do this all by yourself." :)

We enjoyed a couple winter wonderland walks this past month, just around our neighboorhood.  What we didn't enjoy was all getting the flu.  It was a very long week and half.  Spencer got it first, then Brian and I followed about 5 days later.  When we were both sick we would take turns doing 1 hour shifts lying on the couch "watching" Spencer while the other lay in bed.  We are so grateful to be feeling better.

Spencer's schedule right now:
-wake around 6, nurse and go back to sleep
-wake around 7:30 nurse, change diaper and into clothes
-play in bedroom for a while, crawl around
-8:30 breakfast snack, clean up
-9:15 read books until nap time at 9:30
-wake up at 10:30, change diaper
-snack
-do something fun, playgroup or library or grocer shop
-play
-nurse at 1
-books and then nap at 1:30
-3:30 wake up, change diaper
-snack
-play/help mom make dinner
-dad comes home, dinner with family at 6
-dad gives bath 6:15
-nurse and bed at 6:45

Oh! I didn't mention Spencer's love of the toilet... this is a video of the first time Spencer pulled himself up to standing all by himself.  And it just so happens to be at the toilet.  He has gotten sneakier and will now splash quietly and takes me a minute to realize that's where he must be.
